Golfers throughout Thailand set to tee off again on Sunday as restrictions lifted

Thai media 77kaoded reported that golf courses throughout Thailand would be open to the public again from tomorrow.

This is good news especially for the caddies who have been out of work for more than a month due to the coronavirus pandemic closures of sporting facilities in Thailand.

The media went to the Pleasant Valley Golf and Country Club in Si Racha, Chonburi where they saw cleaning and disinfecting taking place.

Course executive Phichet Neuangjamnong said he was happy that the government had lifted the restrictions. But he was happier for the 500 caddies they employ who could breathe again and start properly supporting themselves and their families.

Some of the caddies had received government handouts but it was not enough.

It will be golf with a difference, however, due to the regulations on mask wearing and social distancing.

The caddies will not be sharing golf buggies with players. The caddies will wear masks and make sure they are 1-2 meters away from players when handing out clubs.

Players will be limited to hiring one caddy each.

The media did not make it clear if players would be required to wear masks too.

so they can make a living too. No Thai Golf Course would let you play without having a caddy.

The last time I played the Marine Course in Sattahip I hired a buggie but there were no caddies there. I think the same applies at the Sattahip Fleet course.

Incorrect. The upmarket courses usually insist on having a caddy. Lower echelon courses don't.

Why have caddies ? You really want to push or pull my clubs 18 holes through all that tropical rough ?
