Thailand’s 20 or so richest families have answered Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s letter seeking help by presenting details on the projects they have developed and will develop to tackle the impact of Covid-19, said deputy government spokesperson Rachada Thanadirek.

She said the Cabinet has been informed of the response and the government will see how these projects can be supported or collaborated with.

Prayut recently wrote to the country’s 20 richest citizens calling on them to help him tackle the impact the outbreak has had on the society and economy.

After meeting with the Cabinet on Tuesday (May 5), Prayut said that apart from seeking collaboration from the tycoons, he has also sought collaboration from small- and medium-sized businesses to join the missing of tackling the crisis.

He added that the crisis may last for another six to nine months and the government will take steps to deal with it.

And there is still one missing. Probably too busy

Pressuring high rollers... He embarrassed them in public by publishing a letter to them all.

Reap what ye sow, mister Prime Minister.  I'm sure they have long memories.

Eeeh? What check are you talking about? Who have been mentioning a check? Where is your information coming from?

A careful reading of the article strongly suggests they showed Prayuth the finger. Not how he spins it, but then Prayuth and the truth are not terribly well acquainted and I never met a pollie who could lie straight in bed.

nah.

Those who shelter their loot in the tax havens around the world aren't generally known for their social conscience.

Care to expand that non-exsistant word to become an understandable reply?

True. Or "Foxtrot Yankee".

Or both.

And of course, they all came by all the money through honest endeavour and hard work...

Thais re known for their honesty and industriousness.

As someone previously opined: Thailand is successful because all Thais are honest, intelligent and industrious.

Or it isn't.

Sooooo...still no money coming for all the (now) jobless people with usually already small wages?

Got ya"!

Especially the Generals and politicians.

So the government shuts down the economy of 60+ million people over 54 deaths.  Then asks "the rich" to do something to help.

Too 50 Thais have a combines net worth of around 162 billion USD.  If you confiscated that entire amount and somehow managed to. iquidate it at market value (to whom I don't know since they would not want foreign ownership to many assets) it would give you about 70k Thai baht per person.  What happens when that money runs out?

The best thing the rich can do for the country is reopen their businesses.

Socialists always believe that the rich have infinitely deep pockets, and they are always shocked when the confiscation does not solve the world's problems.

Truth. Employing people who need paychecks.
