But here, we have a small inconsistency

https://www.who.int/news-room/detail/27-04-2020-who-timeline---covid-19

14 January 2020

WHO's technical lead for the response noted in a press briefing there may have been limited human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus (in the 41 confirmed cases), mainly through family members, and that there was a risk of a possible wider outbreak. The lead also said that human-to-human transmission would not be surprising given our experience with SARS, MERS and other respiratory pathogens.

Thanks for the precision. "May have been" is the official statement. Scientists are always careful when they are confronted with only limited information.

Anyway, they did not state " no H2H transmission", right?

Oh yeah. It was posted for "balance".

An infamous WHO tweet saying there was 'no clear evidence' COVID-19 could spread between humans was posted for 'balance' to reflect findings from China

Nobody understands anymore, yes?? ????

https://www.businessinsider.com/who-no-transmission-coronavirus-tweet-was-to-appease-china-guardian-2020-4

"The tweet was posted because an official worried that a WHO expert was issuing strong warnings that deviated from China's messaging."

Interesting article. Thanks. Obviously there was no unanimous opinion at that time among scientist working at WHO.

The Guardian article cited in the article you linked is also interesting.

Interesting you brought up the 1918 pandemic. 50,000,000 people died. No shut down.

Yes, around 2.7% of the global population.

Perhaps they didn,t know how the flu was transmitted 102 years ago,I do believe medical research has progressed a tad since then, though you might find it hard to believe.

This is how China is rewriting history.

"In essence, the party wants to make the best out of a terrible situation and spin the story in favor of the party by deflecting blame, sowing doubts on its culpability, whipping up nationalism, and highlighting the superiority of the Chinese party-state,”

Damn clever those chinese.

It's on the official account of WHO on Twitter.....

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-52573137

14 January - The WHO posts on Twitter that "preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission."

So who just quoted the Chinese report as gospel?

People seem to think the 1918 flu originated from the US, the Chinese did a great job of covering up here and even if you now go looking on google you won't find much if you search for '1918 flu China' and there's a reason for that.

There is a theory that the'Spanish Flu' was bought to Europe by the Chinese labour companies recruited and organised by the British from the various treaty ports which they controlled..ie Hong Kong and Shanghai.

There was no organised Central Nationalist goverment in China at the time as it had descended into chronic 'warlordism'-a situation which was actively encouraged by the Western Powers and Japan.

There is no evidence to suggest that Chinese authorities covered up anything at the time as they had no means to do so.

This theory of origin remains just that-a well discussed theory and there has been no attempts to cover it up or down play it.Of course, there are several other possible sources discussed as well.

That's History for you.

Surprisingly enough, I discovered that bats are considered as a gourmet dish in several countries, including until recently in Italy. ????

Well, when McDonald was introduced in France .. That was considered 'barbaric' ....  Now McDo is very popular in France ... 555

Opinions do change..

I don't hold the WHO is very high esteem. I can't digest their findings and their recommendations. They are basically clueless but they do love their vaccines.

There is one thing for sure and that is there are many questions to be ask. One question is what does Donald Trump and his second in command Pompeo know about this? What do they know about the lab that was set up and financed in Wuhan in 2014 by the American National Institute of Health under Barack Obama? Do they know that this lab was set up to research the coronavirus? Do they also know that the reason that this lab was set up in China was because it was illegal to carry out such research on American soil in case of accidents? Did Donald Trump cut finances to this lab the same as he has cut the finances to every other health scheme that Barack Obama set up? Is the cutting of the financial support to this lab the reason that the virus has been able to escape? Where did this virus originate, the Wuhan wet market or the American lab in Wuhan?  Here is a interesting link for you to look at.

https://projectreporter.nih.gov/project_info_description.cfm?aid=8674931&icde=49588715

This lab never had anything to do with the Chinese Government.

So pangolin has nothing to do with virus?

Pangolin wouldn't be happy to hear that.

Is pangolin also the plural of pangolin?  And if it is, what's the collective noun for a group of pangolin?   Let's forget this virus nonsense and address these really important questions.

Don't worry they can fool their own people but not the rest of the World.
I wonder why they are so gullible.
There's even been a massive propaganda campaign going on trying to convince Asian countries the outbreak started in the USA.

Chinese authorities shut down the market in January as part of efforts to halt the spread of the virus and ordered a temporary ban on trade and consumption of wildlife.

And Thailand started to do something when, still taking CNY tourists from Wuhan in February?

Thailand got off lightly considering.

And what gives you the right to declare what other people eat is barbaric? Are you one of these vegan idiots

Bats are Nr.1 disease carrier carrying up to 60 Viruses that can infect Humans so if we eat them there's a good chance to get infected

imagine at the wet Market where they are chopped up on all that Bat blood get splashed around. There are of course other animals that can

pass disease to Humans and it make logical sense to ban the sale of those Animals for consumption I would say.

Loads of stuff pig, chicken lots of fish and Seafood the occasional bug etc but definitely not Bats as it's well known they carry disease including Rabies and more.
Personally I have never seen Bat meet for sale in Thailand, have you? Field Rats yes, Frog Meet yes, Bats no.
If you do eat Bats at least be informed of the Risks of contracting diseases.

If you dig a little deeper there were plenty of shutdowns back then. Not like today but they were there.

There were also some serious mistakes from which we may be able to learn. San Francisco springs to mind - third wave in 1919

Maybe if they had the same shutdowns there wouldnt have been so many deaths. Also finding info back then was not as fast and easy as it is now.
