The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Saturday (May 9) that the southerly and southeasterly winds prevailing over the upper country will cause hot to very hot weather conditions with thundershowers, gusty winds and hail in the North, the Northeast, the Central and the East.

People in the upper country have been asked to beware of severe conditions. The easterly winds blowing over the Gulf and the South bring thundershowers. The low pressure cell over the head of Sumatra causes stronger wind waves over the Andaman Sea.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Hot to very hot, with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas, gusty winds and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 23-28 degrees and highs of 38-40 degrees Celsius.

Northeastern region: Hot to very hot, with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas, gusty winds and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 25-29 degrees and highs of 38-41 degrees Celsius.

Central region: Hot to very hot, with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; gusty winds and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 26-27 degrees, highs of 39-40 degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Hot to very hot, with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas; gusty winds and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 26-29 degrees, highs of 34-40 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

Southern region (east coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-28 degrees, highs of 33-38 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 25-27 degrees, highs of 33-36 degree Celsius; waves 1-2 metres high and 2 metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot, with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 28-29 degrees, highs of 36-39 degrees Celsius.

isn't this report just a copy and paste version of every forecast in the past month?

Typical 'build-up' weather.

No! be about the same for this period last year though, it's transition time from Summer to wet season, ready for some cooling rain, though not keen on the humidity it bring's to the NE.

What I would really like to know is when this 35 degree plus weather will change!

Just west from Bangkok it's hitting 40C by midday and is roasting all afternoon, virtually  no wind.

Just constant incessant heat, day and night. Little rain showers which seem not to bring relief from this heat.

In years past, do not ever recall having to use as much aircon as is being used now.
