The week that was in Thailand news: The end of the beginning - trepidation as we grapple with what the "New Normal" might mean

On Friday much of the world was celebrating the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe - the date known as VE day in Britain. Like many, Rooster tuned into his favorite news channel to see how the country of my birth was marking the occasion. There were flypasts, two minutes silences, stirring messages from the nation's leaders. Old ladies born well after the end of hostilities in 1945 set up tables draped in Union Jacks for impromptu "social distancing" street parties outside their homes.

April consumer confidence lowest in over 21 years

BANGKOK(NNT)-COVID-19 has resulted in last months’ consumer confidence index falling to the lowest in 21 years and seven months, but the Thai Chamber of Commerce believes a relaxation of lockdown measures, coupled with government stimuli, can still reinvigorate the domestic economy.

MRT tightens preventive measures as more commuters take trains

(Reuters) - Little Richard, the self-proclaimed "architect of rock 'n' roll" who built his ground-breaking sound with a boiling blend of boogie-woogie, rhythm and blues and gospel, died on Saturday at the age of 87.

Police divisions distribute relief supplies to people hit by Covid-19

Despite empty reservoirs, Pattaya will have enough water, PWA insists

The drought is the worst since 2002, but, back then, Pattaya had only the Mabprachan Reservoir from which to draw water.


Despite the five reservoirs feeding Pattaya being nearly empty, the Provincial Waterworks Authority insists the city can make it through the summer without serious shortages.

Over 10,000 vendors put wares on sale as Chatuchak market opens its doors
