I was under the impression there were no flights from Thai Air Bangkok to London, but today (13th May) TG916 is on it's way to London?!

Maybe repatriation flights from London, seems to be operating every few days.  But you can't book it and no change on TG's site, nothing till July still.

I think you are right.

THAI's A350's are being utilized for European cargo flights. They keep the regular flight number even though not carrying passengers.

the pilots need their hours, otherwise it's retaining / simulators - but then Thailand being the hub of all things, maybe their pilots are exempt.
