Education Ministry hiring 10,000 asst teachers during virus crisis

The Education Ministry will hire 10,000 assistant teachers for primary schools as a way of helping unemployed educators amid the Covid-19 crisis.

 

Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan said the plan was to hire assistant teachers for six months on a monthly salary of Bt9,000. The budget for the employment scheme totals just over Bt500 million, enough to hire around 10,000 teachers.

 

The scheme was assigned on Wednesday (May 20), in line with the prime minister’s directive that all ministries should do what they can to help unemployed people during the virus crisis.

 

The minister added that the extra teachers would be useful when the Covid-19 pandemic subsides and children return for the new term at primary schools, where the teacher-student ratio should rise from one teacher per 20 students to three per 20.

9.000 baht Why so much? So i take it these asistants will be all Thai people or Philipinos

After watching the young lady conduct an excruciating televised presentation to her students in English I would surmise that they should employ all the redundant bar girls, they know more English and would keep the boys attention longer !

 

Why does the article say unemployed teachers? Once school starts back won't the teachers go back to work and haven't government teachers been getting paid without having to work?
