What to do in Phrae

The Phrae Province is one of the most ancient cities of Northern Thailand. Phrae was established in 1371 B.E. by Phaya Pol. The former name wad "Pol Nakorn", then changed to "Wiang Ko Sai" which means "Silk Cloth". With one of the largest reserves of teak forests in Thailand. It is located on the banks of the Yom River, some 555 kilometers from Bangkok.

One of the most authentic, traditional and peaceful provinces you can expect to visit in all of Thailand.

Built in the Sukhothai period, Wat Phra That Cho Hae is a major religious and perhaps the most sacred Buddhism site of Phrae. The highlight is the 33-meter-tall Chiang Saen-style phra that (pagoda), wrapped with bright brass sheets, which enshrines holy relics of Lord Buddha.
