A jewellery shop owner has become a barber on a street as the Covid-19 crisis forced him to seek a new way to have some income.

 

 

Burin Ploywong, 62, owned a silver jewellery shop in a shopping mall which was closed due to the lockdown measure.

 

 

He then decided to grab a hair clipper and ran a barber shop on the corner of a street in Suksawat 30 alley from 10am to 6pm.

 

 

He gets 10 to 20 customers a day who ate drawn up his Bt50 per haircut price and it is not crowded like other salons.

If I was forced to use only one word to describe the Thai people I would use "Ingenuity"

Hundreds of millions worldwide, are wrestling with the experiment in insanity, known as the economic shutdown. The fact that it was deliberate, and undertaken by nearly all the major economies of the world boggles the mind. It has thrown countless people out of work, the aftermath is a complete unknown, since this kind of insanity has never been undertaken on a mass scale before, and no one knows what the recovery will look like, nor how many millions will remain out of work. As is usually the case, the poor get poorer, and the middle class shrinks, yet again.

The only people not losing are the Government bureaucrats/politicians and Main Stream Media.

True that. But, I would add the very wealthy to that list, alot of bankers, traders, Amazon, Netflix, and the grocery chains. Alot of money has been made in shorting the markets. For every trillion lost, there is a trillion won, on the other side of the market, by savvy players. Also, the economic re-set is going to create huge opportunities for those with alot of cash and liquidity. 

The great thing about this place, any Thai can just set up a stall and start a business.

Imagine trying to do that in the UK, without 2 sinks, 3 toilets, 3 health permits and planning permission.

You forgot to mention another major requirement in most countries in the west when opening something like this, namely, does he have the right training and the appropriate certificate of qualification.  Even in Thailand a person is supposed to have the same.  To be a barber requires the minimum of a six month course to get a certificate.  He could be in some sort of trouble if reported to the correct authority especially as he does not have the right equipment.
