if it creates jobs and gets folks back in their previous job then that's a good thing.

The one thing required that is universal all over the world is employment ....  because if you don't have a job then you don't get money and you don't buy food and goods. This is priority to kick start every country in the world.

It's obviously not the only measure to be implemented by Khun Prayut Chan O Cha, but it's a first of many that will help restart the severely damaged economy and hopefully get folks lives back on track.

Good work by Khun Prayut and his government.

Do you know anyone who is getting the 5000 monthly handouts?

I Know many who are getting nothing.

And told they don't qualify because they are farmers..

True enough. But what have they done about it? Have they gone in person to the Government Bank to  question that? Or have they relied on the online submission and  rejection?

Does this mean Phuket, Krabi and Phang Nga will be open on 1st of July without restrictions ?

Bars as well ? Othwise senseless

Only to Thais (or chinese?)

Isnt that the next logical step.

This proposal likely makes two tier pricing for hotels and tourism official. And it may not just be for a short time.

If i book any more hotel stays its likely to have to be in my wifes name from now on

I read the other day that the government is looking to borrow a trillion baht to keep it going and to pay for this Covid business, i wonder if this free holidays are part of that loan they're looking to borrow...

Get in line.  Nancy Pelosi is looking to borrow another $3 trillion.  That's DOLLARS.

My lady's village in Nangrong had financial services officers come out and talk to the heads.

Saying that April 3oth there were corrections to the statistics and database.

So please try again.

There was an appeal button on the site.

The government bank was not handling any enquiries.

What was mentioned was that funding was available for 6 million people.

And ignoring the Prayut government breakdown before, something like 26 million people applied.

System overload.

If you are a farmer you have a farmers registration card.

3x 5000 baht handouts are being provided to them.

At the last attempt to resubmit the application the website was no longer available.

Neither are there any food banks locally.

So much for nobody will be left behind...

The Thai government are set to pay their own people to go on holidays

More perks for those underworked and overpaid government workers is really needed to revive tourism!  Only in Thailand!

At least someone in the Government knows that Tourism is the goose that lays the golden egg.

But it's not Prayut. he has been trying to strangle it for years with his early bar closing times and late opening times... what's the point of all that! It's not like the people spending in bars at holiday destinations are prevented from working. He's just stopping them from spending. What a moron!!

All those people on the 5000baht a month program would probably enjoy a holiday......all be it a brief one.

Really?  You mean some people are receiving the money?  Last I heard -- you must have a bank account; and you must be able to prove employment (even if a maid for cash; or a seller at the market).

The proposal announced by economy and society secretary Tossaporn Sirisamphan says that Thais will be eligible for 40-50% off hotels.

40%-50% off of what price... an inflated one?

Food banks on the streets to feed the poor, topped up by the public generosity, the PM talks about giving 4oo million baht for half price holidays!

I didn't realize so many TV members were actually economic advisors.

So many here seems to know what is correct to kick start the economy and what's not.

So many TV farang must have degrees in accounting and so on ......

Essential qualifications :

Undergraduate degree in statistics, maths, business studies, and economics

Desirable qualifications :

Postgraduate degree in economics

Are you saying the ministers have real qualifications ? dream on.
