I use a Samsung S10, I've got a QR code reader installed.

open your camera, focus on the QR code at say the mall, 

once the camera focus's on the code it brings up a sign saying tap here to go to Thaichana

Tap, select english, done deal

 

I've used it a couple of times with no spam happening

I have checked in/out in a dozen shops but never received any SMS spam. Will download tomorrow and check if it makes easier. Great idea and Thailand wins, though not a new concept.
