fvw53
I am only trying to find out if other TVF members have similar experience as me. About six months ago I did my yearly general check up (with blood analysis) at a leading university hospital I am more than 70 years old In the blood analysis there was a serious red mark for LDL and so went to consult a cardiologist. But only now - reading the lab report - I notice that I have also a red mark about my kidneys See attachment Reading a lot on the internet I learn that for Creatinine GFR I should not have less than 60 mL/ min/1.73 m2 but I have 76.05 : why should I have a red mark? I returned to the university hospital where the admin staff told me that only nephrologist can reply me....my goodness. In my home country the family GP could easily reply to this but in Bangkok a GP does not seem to exist. If any TVF member had a number similar to 76 I would be happy to learn what he or she has done. faraday
The red mark indicates that your GFR is elevated. Sheryl will, no doubt, be along soon to give some of her excellent advice.
bkk6060
6 months ago? Why don´t you get a recent test? A GFR between 60-90 can be mild reduced kidney function and may be appropriate depending on age. I would go get an updated test and if you are not satisfied, go see a specialist.
uncleP
I have been banned from eating salt , sauces, chicken. Not easy at first but I saw big improvements over the first three months. I do what they say and have a weekend meal where I do as I please.
Sheryl
A GFR of 76 in someone your age is not cause for concern. Your serum creatnine is normal and I assume your BUN was as well. GFR naturally decreases with age.
