Citizens and staff at the bustling hub of national administration got an early taste of the latest phase of lockdown easing, as more restrictions were lifted at the vast Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road on Monday (June 1).

Bangkokians appeared relaxed with the “new normal” at the hub of national administration, said a reporter who took the temperature of the atmosphere after City Hall announced the third phase in the gradual return to normal daily life.

“The Government Complex’s food court has now arranged tables so that customers can maintain a safe distance from each other, whereas previously customers could only buy food to take back home,” said the reporter.

“Meanwhile, all food sellers are wearing face masks, while a hand-sanitising checkpoint has been set up in front of the food court to allow people to cleanse their hands.”

Therdsak Chiewchansakda, a citizen who came to use services at the Government Complex, said that the third phase of lockdown easing was good news because everyone was suffering from lockdown measures.

“I believe that everyone will be careful as they are following social distancing measures and wearing face masks,” he said.
