Malaysia Deports Illegal Thai Workers

Malaysia deports illegal Thai workers

Malaysian authorities are coordinating with Thai officials to extradite illegal Thai workers who entered Malaysia without proper work permits .

At the Betong border crossing area of Betong district in Yala province today (April 19), Betong Immigration Inspector Pol Lt Col Amnak Traikittiyanukul (อำนรรฆ ไตรกิตยานุกูล), received reports from Malaysian Immigration Chief Mr. Ryce Hazan (ริส ฮาซาน), that 81 Thai workers are being extradited after being detained for entering Malaysia without proper work permits.

Betong District Chief Officer Nopadol Songmuang (นพดล สองเมือง, the Superintendent of the Betong police precinct, Pol Col Songkiet Wattakul (ทรงเกียรติ วาทะกุล ), and the Commander of the 3121st Army Infantry Company, Cpt Thorpong Matapitak (ต่อพงษ์ มาตาพิทักษ์ ), were present at the Betong border crossing area to expedite the extradition process, and to investigate whether the 81 workers had any criminal or narcotic involvement.

Thai authorities then transferred the workers to the Betong Public Health Office's Disease Control division to screen for malaria, as some of the workers were exhibiting malarial symptoms. Officials said that the workers will be allowed to return to their home provinces once formalities have been completed.

Investigations revealed that the 81 workers were from Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Satun province, and were employed as rubber collectors in the Malaysian state of Perak (เปรัค), and restaurant employees in the state of Selangor. Some of the workers were suffering from malaria and were being treated in Malaysian hospitals before their extradition.

Aaaaand wait for the tit for tat expulsion of illegal Malaysian workers in LOS... :o

Illegal Malaysian workers in LOS??? hmm...unlikely

On the other hand, govts are fightinh and the one who suffer are those poor thais working for a better rice down there in Malayisia...sad :D

So let me get this right, the Burmese are coming here to work and the Thais are going to Malaysia to work! Of course, if I were living in those 3 Southern provinces, I think I'd cross the border to work as well.

The loop would be completed if Burma and Cambodia kick illegal Malaysians home :o

Economic migration, the same the world over. If a guy can get over the border and earn more money for the same work of course he's gonna do it. So Malaysia gains Thais, Filippinos, Burmese, Vietnamese, Cambodians etc and Thailand gains Burmese, Cambodians, Laotians, Vietnamese etc. And every now and then the authorities round some up and send them home just so they are seen to be doing their job. Hel_l the Thai construction industry depends on illegal Burmese and Cambodian workers, take them all away and sod all would get built. And we don't talk about the illegal Burmese fishermen do we?

At least the ones with malaria are getting some treatment for it. How would that compare with the Thai treatment of illegals in the same situation?
