Over 150 UXOs found in Pursat province

More than 150 unexploded ordnances have been found by villagers in a farm located in the Pursat province’s Kropeur Pi commune. They were safely destroyed by HALO Trust organisation. Veal Veng district police officer Soley Mesa said yesterday 53 kinds of UXOs were found by villagers on Monday, including 105 B40 rockets, 44 B62 rockets and four types of 76 rockets.

He added, “The area was a battlefield during the Khmer Rouge. These UXOs were found when the farm owner,  wanting to expand his farmland, started to plough the land to cultivate corn. He came across the UXOs and reported it to our police officers.” The officers then contacted HALO Trust to destroy it.

“The experts have already destroyed it safely and no one was injured,” he said. Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority has called on all citizens to be cautious and avoid touching, pounding, throwing or playing with UXOs, as they may explode and cause death, injuries or disabilities.
