A leading Thai virologist has highlighted recent research indicating that people with group A blood are more susceptible to Covid-19.

Dr Yong Poovorawan of Chulalongkorn Hospital said on Thursday (June 18) that group A individuals had shown higher rates of infection than people with B, O or AB blood.

The New England Journal of Medicine recently published a report on studies in Italy and Spain which found that people with O group blood have the lowest risk of coronavirus infection, while A-group individuals have the highest.

The findings came from Italian and Spanish scientists’ genome-wide association study (GWAS), and confirm earlier studies by Chinese researchers, said Dr Yong.

This is great news. My blood is O neg.

Same with most of my family.

But still hoping we get an effective vaccine for the C.C.P. Virus soon.

so, person a with A blood, takes care of his body, what he eats, get enough SUNSHINE, does not overload on sugar, msg

is worse of than person B with other blood type, old or sick, overweight, type 2 diabetes, is on 3 different medications for chronic diseases, eat <deleted> food full of sugar, does not exercise except going in & out his car ?

Who knows?   But these studies done in Italy and Spain are now also backed up by studies in China also.

    It’s not just one study.

Blood group A is at higher risk for the C.C.P. Corona Virus.

Blood group O has much less risk in comparison to group A or other groups.

o plus,thank you mum and dad .

Maybe there were more group A people closer to Infected people than group O and other groups. :wai:

Same as me - interestingly, O+ is the most common of all the blood groups yet the least likely to lead to Covid-19 infection (according to the virologist)!

Statistical NONSENSE.

Statistics can make any outcome you want.

Males are more likely to have A type blood.  TRUE

Males are more likely to suffer bad Covid - TRUE

A type blood live longer than others - TRUE

Old people more likely to suffer bad Covid - TRUE

See where we are going ???????  So its no surprise given old men suffer most and the highest percentage of old people have A blood.

Given the average age of death of Covid is over 80 years old, I will give you another statistic...........

More Bald men get Covid than non-bald men !!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW.......amazing.........   the lesson is, look at all the facts before you make silly headlines with statistical nonsense !!!!!!!!

Where did you read that?

Interesting. I am AB, but I am obese with diabetes so I am still careful.

again serious misinformation.

I don't know why they like to blabber about blood groups when the real indicator is + rhesus

We found a higher proportion of blood group A and a lower proportion of
blood group O among COV+ patients compared to COV-, though in both cases the result is
significant only in Rh positive blood types.

OMG! So many farang expats are bold or almost....555!

No not "statistical nonsense " from nonsensical replies above: The antibodies prevalent in the O blood group specifically inhibit the COV-2 proteins that are dependent on adhesion to the hosts ACE2 receptors.  morrobay, BSc. Biology.
