That's nothing. I can tell you something even more scary. Try to talk about some topic even without browsing internet or just by having your phone close to you. You will shortly find ads targeted to that topic. There are many videos that show this in detail. Basically your phone and computer spy everything you say. (Otherwise how they would understand ok, Google or hey, Siri? ????)

Look carefully what happens in this video

In relation to the video, if you are using Google for search and you are signed in on both your laptop/desktop/phone then the search history is with Google not just on the device you are using. The same applies when using Facebook adverts which are tailored to you from your Google search history, lots of websites use Goolge adsense too.

Can't say I'm bothered, nobody else ever listens to me, I'm not that interesting.

With you Bro, My wife doesn't even listen to me so why would some random idiot at Google be interested.

Seriously, as all ready pointed out, there are add blockers, VPNs and cookie crushers available so a little research or a chat to a reputable IT specialist should get anyone sorted.

Did you pay to have those videos produced or were they somehow sponsored  ...and by 'sponsored' I mean the 'big' web services identifying and tracking pretty much every click you make in a browser to collect your specific interests to sell on as personalized metrics to ad agencies.

Not sure what you expect.

By the way, have you tried clearing your browser history (Browser history, Cookies, Cache) and see if that changes what ads get served up? Sometimes the algorithms only use stuff matching recent history, other times it's what their servers have collected on you over the years.

Don't be so modest, you have a lot other people are interested in getting.

First of all, your money!
Knowing what taste you're probably interested in makes it easier to see you snake oil with that taste.

And then, more and more, your vote in the next elections.
Knowing what you like, or don't like, will make it easier to suggest voting for a candidate because of something you like, or knowing what you don't like makes it easier suggesting to not vote for a candidate because what you don't like gets associated with him.

Look at the last US elections, that is what Facebook and Cambridge Analytica did to get the looser to win just enough votes more so he could get into the white house. Can they do it again?

Browser settings and browsing history clearing can help for sure. Lots of options in there that are pre set but can be changed to give far better privacy. in my humble definitely non tech opinion...????

I haven't voted for 20 years.

Last time I voted, it was for Arthur Scargill's Socialist Labour Party.

Doubt I'll ever vote again, unless they start having a box 'No suitable candidate' on the voting forms.

As for Ads ........ I don't see any, ad blocker on my browser plus FaceBook Purity removes them all.

All my television and movie viewing is from torrent downloads, so no Ads there either.

Jeez they all come out of the wood work at this time of night. Way off track Pal, have another puff of the pipe and get looser to win!

Don't need to use Google for search, your phone is always logged into Google and the mic gets data to serve targeted ads throughout all your logged devices. Same thing if you have Facebook application installed in your phone. That's why Google, Facebook etc are free, you are the product.

Can't say I have ever had a conversation or spoken near my phone and it's tailored the ads for me.
