Authorities in Udon Thani have turned old street furniture into anti-virus weapons as part of “new normal” measures to tackle Covid-19 when schools restart next week.

More than 4,000 sinks have been modified from public telephone booths, oil tanks and old school desks. The Northeast province will also adopt other defensive measures when schools reopen from July 1, such as mandatory temperature checking, mask wearing, and social distancing in each classroom.

All education institutions have been told to arrange seats at least on metre apart, to allow four square metres of space for each student, said governor Wanchai Chanporn.

Local authorities have checked schools and separated them into three groups: ready to reopen, in need of improvement before reopening, or failing to meet public health standards.

Seventy-two primary schools were judged ready to reopen, but six must make improvements. Of the total 141 high schools, 124 will be allowed to reopen while 17 needed to be improve.

The findings will be put to the educational committee of Udon Thani, said the governor.

I wonder how many schools have a good supply of acceptable hand sanitiser in stock and easily available all day to the Kids.

My granddaughters school gets the world record for never getting ready / following solid rules on many things.

I can just see my Thai son taking his 3 kids to school on 1 July and asking 'where's the hand sanitizer?

With some probability the answer will be 'no budget', 'director says not necessary'. Leading to 'well where's the soap'? Answer ' no budget', 'director says not necessary'.

All leading to my son and a few other parents quickly doing a shop up and all delivered quickly to the school.

I have read that schools cannot run air conditioners in the classrooms. Students will not be able to eat in the canteen or cafeteria in large groups. Because of social distancing requirements primrary students may find themselves confined to one classroom for much of the school day. Can anyone confirm this?

The government should set up testing facilities at all schools from day one and at regular intervals thereafter. Parents need to know if their child is infected in order to keep them away from the elderly relatives for whom COVID can easily be a death sentence.

people get the most chance to get sick in HOSPITALS, you know, where hand sanitizing is done all day...

humans are bacteria, have a harmony with them, they produce vitamins and other chemical processes

Lets see you get salmonella and harmonize with that bacteria. And there is quite a difference between a bacteria and a virus.
