Spanish man arrested in Bangkok for allegedly growing marijuana plants

A Spanish man was arrested after police allegedly found marijuana plants in his house.

 

Din Daeng police went to check a house in the Chom Thong district of Bangkok on Friday (June 26), after the marijuana plants were detected.

Police allegedly found 35 plants and a greenhouse in the house, together with a vacuum sealer, plastic bags, and scales.

 

The house was owned by a Spanish man aged 42, who was charged with producing the narcotic.

 

The operation is cracking down on more people involved in the marijuana network. The house owner informed police that he had grown the plants on the third floor of his house, and had done it for around three months.

Owned doesn't mean necessarily he bought it. Especially in translations of Thai news articles.

Cannabis hardly considered a drug nowadays with less proven consequences as alcohol or tabacco.

right, I know weed is not such a hard drug, anyway each person can do his own thing, if someone likes drugs then that's their prerogative, i don't so that's just me.  Everyone has their own opinion on things.

It still takes longer than 3 months to grow ....... 

My, these poor Spaniards have had it rough. I was just reading about one banned from the Phils for mouthing off to their cops.

 

But really, when are they just going to legalize the weed here? It'll get 'em off the yaba, and get them to jai yen yen before going for their guns or knives, after getting looked at the wrong way.

They are thinking about it .Maybe in another 15 to 20 years they will legalize it .

drug war was lost over 20 years ago, nowadays the major traffickers are counting on the war to continue for another 100 years for the harder it's fought the more money they make.. fools lol

Wonder how they got him. Certainly too young of plants for nice pungent smell. Maybe some chickie pooh who got caught by the police ratted him out?

Thailand is a very poor choice for someone who wants to smoke weed, much less grow it.  There are plenty of other options, where it's not a "big deal" - but here, caught even possessing a small amount is a big problem. 

Doctor friend of mine told me a year ago that individuals in Thailand allowed to grow up to three plants for their own use .… I'm guessing that means .… for cooking.

Right?

The Thai government produces cannabis ( marijuana) and provides it for residents for medical use. 
 

it’s been used for centuries here as an herbal treatment and traditional Thai chicken soup is made with cannabis leaves. 
 

I would hardly call someone growing 35 immature plants a drug pusher. It’s the safest therapeutically active compound on the planet according to a US FDA official. It’s never killed a single person, unlike tobacco and alcohol, which I’m guessing you have no problems with, right. 

Like most counties, it's illegal and a zero torrelance. <deleted> learn the rules before you go to other counties, It's not rocket science. Don't think because it's ok in your country, then it's ok In thailand.

I am a vapour (e-cigarettes) legal in most civilised countries but illegal In Thailand. Go figure 55555.

Its wrong with alcohol producers you must purchase their products not grow your own

I am in contact with many American and Canadian citizens who admit doing 3-6 years in prison for growing cannabis and subsequently been blocked from all legitimate sources of work for the rest of their lives by their record.

 

I don't think Thailand is any worse.

Meanwhile, thousands of Thais grow them in their yards....many thais that I know of, in my locale.....
