BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's manufacturing production index (MPI) in May dropped 23.19% from a year earlier, led by lower production of cars, petroleum and air conditioners due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, the industry ministry said on Monday.

Schools, entertainment venues all set to reopen from Wednesday

From July 1, shopping malls, schools and educational institutes will be able to operate as normal, while bars and entertainment venues will be allowed to reopen only if they possess a valid licence, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said today (June 29), after the committee approved the fifth phase of lockdown relaxation.

Indian techie arrested for credit card fraud in Chiang Mai

An Indian national was arrested for fraud on Monday after being caught in Chiang Mai with several credit cards and a modified EDC [Electronic Data Capture] machine used to imprint data on counterfeit cards, police said.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand will allow pubs and bars to re-open on Wednesday and plans to let in some foreign travellers after recording five weeks without any community transmission of the coronavirus, a government official said.
