Pattaya: No more illegal parties at this "pool villa" - sting leads to arrest of house owner

Officials from the Bang Lamung municipality carried out a sting at a house in Soi Nong Hin 5 being used as a pool villa party venue.

Complaints had been received via the government watchdog office of Damrongtham that the property was being run as a hotel.

Local official Paradorn Chainaphaporn said that a sting was set up to stay at the property. A 2,000 baht deposit was transferred to the owner online.

When the residue of 3,500 baht was paid the owner was promptly arrested and taken into the Bang Lamung District Office.

Paradorn said that many such places had been busted after they were used for parties by mostly young people unable to go to clubs and pubs during the lockdown.

He said that there were many more to shut down.

And one cop there is not wearing a mask, so they are not too concerned about the virus.

It doesn't say how many people there were at the parties. I am not sure if that is anything to do with it.

I think the limit must be about 10 or 12 people together. At least that is about how many out health minister gathered together at a restaurant and nothing happened to him.

It's all about power.

Or maybe it's about enforcing the Hotel Act, or about shutting down a longstanding neighborhood nuisance.

I think this is the problem.

Out neighbor (a Korean man) put 3 or 4 bunk beds in each of the three spare bedrooms he had in his house and rented them out to Korean backpackers. Someone must have reported him because immigration came and he was busted.

Having people over constantly is annoying. There is one soi in Jomtien they rent houses out and it is soooo noisy from groups that go and party for their time there. If I had this sort of operation in my area or next to me, I would not put up with it. sometimes having friends over is ok, but not on a rental basis and not everyday.

So, the owner was not arrested for throwing a party in the past, but for planning one in the future ?

No. Seems he was busted for renting out his house "like a hotel" and that it was used in the past for "pool parties" (hence why someone reported it to the cops).

I have two of these on my Soi in S. Pattaya. I'd like them to get busted and closed down. They always rent out on the weekends, are ooud all day, and sometimes well into the night. The latest and loudest was on a Saturday night at 3:15am. I walked over, banged a show on their fence to get their attention, and told the to shut the F up as it was 3 in the morning. They were polite and quieted right down. I'm sure they know that the police won't be so kind to them. I've told the owners that we all plan to call the police the next time they are loud late at night. Hasn't happened in several months because of COVID. But again, weekends are busy with about 10-13 people partying in each house.  TIT.

There was a party on a SATURDAY night?

Do as I say, not as I do! ????

Could this be a side swipe against Airbnb? Houses being rented out short term for parties does fit.

Yes like its nice to have a party house in your neighborhood. That is not what houses are for. Having a party is ok nobody minds that but constant parties is just wrong and especially if the house is rented out for it. They have no permit they are bothering the neighbors.

I would snitch too and be proud to do it. I have no problems with someone throwing a party now and then. I do have a problem with parties all the time and a house being used as a party avenue all the time.

Soon will be moving to house with a pool like that too. I am sure there will be a party at times. But not every weekend and not being selfish .

Best of luck dealing with them. Noise pollution is another Hub in the LOS.

I was in a two-story rental in Phuket and could hear the loud voices of German partiers coming from their walled rear patio. I went upstairs and could see they were playing what looked like poker. Was that something I should report? Then a very attractive young lady came out wIth a new round of drinks. I noticed she was totally naked. I decided they must be playing Uno or maybe Go Fish but watched for a few more rounds to be sure. I was sorry to see them go.

Other than using a house as an illegal hotel?

It would not be much fun if one lived next door.
