Certification given to local sanitising gels in bid to boost confidence

In a move to boost consumer confidence in local products, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has tested and certified two locally manufactured alcohol-based hand sanitising gels, the Industry Ministry’s spokesperson Suchada Taensub said.

 

“Renu Kaewta from Lamphun province who produces ‘DDD Alcohol Gel’ received the certificate on June 2, while Chumphon’s Wannapassorn Santithammasut, who makes ‘Hand Gel’ sanitiser was certified on June 15,” she said.

 

“On March 31, TISI set the standard that hand-sanitising products must contain at least 70 per cent pure alcohol with an aim to encourage local manufacturers to adjust their formula and produce sanitising gels to alleviate local shortage,” she added.

 

“Manufacturers who have received the TISI standard can display the institute’s logo on their products, so consumers know the item has undergone quality testing and is effective against Covid-19,” Suchada said. “This campaign is part of the ministry’s efforts to promote local businesses to produce quality products and boost their profits, which will also help accelerate the recovery of the economy.”

 

TISI has said that manufacturers can contact the institute to receive guidelines for the certification free of charge. To be eligible, manufacturers should have registered with the Public Health Ministry and their products must pass the quality testing process.
