You mean like the Cavanaugh- accusers? The Trump- accusers? The Cosby- accusers? All they had to do was say the word and they were believed right away! Right?!

There were some females on one of their shows recently laughing and talking about Chippendales male strippers. They even showed a photo of one dude. Can you imagine the backlash if guys were talking about going to a strip club and they showed a photo of one of the girls? They would all be immediately fired. I am so glad I am here and not exposed to that nonsense any longer. Compared to Thai girls, I think US women are much bigger manipulators. And, they mostly use sex as a game or tool. Terrible.. Are you joking? Why should anyone be fired for going to a strip club? Unless he was making a clown out of himself in the company's name or it is company policy to not allow the distribution of erotic- material on their premise...why would anyone be fired for something like talking about the last night out? And USwomen are more manipulative than Thai girls? Did you arrive yesterday?

If she was a co worker I assume she was not a minor or under the age of consent. How many "years ago" ? 2? 5? 10?? If a guy has sex with a woman, how long does he have to lose sleep over it worrying she might wanna joined the me too movement? It is now dangerous to give a compliment to a woman in the west. Anything you say might be used against you in a court of law or the court of social media as sexual harassment. I'm not a chauvinist, but all this feminist bs should stop, and the sooner the better

So to get down to the 'nitty gritty' as the English speakers pronounced it was to mix with the people downtown. The standard dictionaries are coy about this derivation.

Whilst this maybe an answer, it is certainly not the answer. It has also been said it refers to grit and debris at the bottom of ships. However, the actual origin of the phrase is unknown and the first documented use of it was in the 1950's, so it is therefore extremely unlikely that it was ever used during the years of slavery.
