Fox News fires anchor for sexual misconduct

(Reuters) - Fox News said on Wednesday it had fired Ed Henry, co-anchor of "America's Newsroom," over claims of "willful sexual misconduct" involving a co-worker from years ago.

The cable news network owned by Rupert Murdoch's Fox Corp said it received a complaint on June 25 from the lawyer of a former employee which prompted the network to retain an outside law firm to investigate.

Henry was suspended on the day of the complaint and was fired based on "investigative findings," according to an internal memo that Fox News provided Reuters.

Henry could not immediately be reached for comment. The former employee has not been identified. Attorney Douglas Wigdor, who said he represented the former employee, said: "We cannot comment at this time."

Former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes resigned in 2016 after being accused by former employees of sexual harassment.

The claims formed the basis of the 2019 feature film "Bombshell" starring Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie.

So Fox news, that well known progressive institute, always promoting progressive views as women's rights, decides after an investigation the guy is fired.

And posters on here feel the need to ridicule the decision. Says a lot about their attitudes.

When are we going to hear of a female anchor person fired for sexual misconduct?

Women are almost always believed...can turn on the tears in an instant...play the frail female card when it suits them...

Good Luck Ed!

'bout time western men realised that woman are no longer their friends, and stopped setting themselves up to be taken down in the future. I never said anything to a woman at work that could be misconstrued and was never ever alone in a room with one and the door closed. Obviously I never tried to have one for a girlfriend. I gave up on them for marriage in 1985.

What an oddly defensive thing to say out loud. Lemme guess, "coffee" means something else to you, right?

He was fired by his BOSS: Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott.

Blimey, a female boss, what's the world coming to?

Good.

It’s great to see fox taking a stance like this.

Let’s hope legal action follows...there can be no place at work or society in general for those who sexually predate upon others.

I’m sure those defending this individual wish the same, after all you must think him innocent...

I don’t care if he was talented or not.

That is no justification for inappropriate sexual behaviour.

No one should miss such a person. I’m sure fox will replace him in a heartbeat.

Wonder how much they will pay her.  Last one got what, over 10 million?

It is such a hypocrisy.  There were some females on one of their shows recently laughing and talking about Chippendales male strippers.  They even showed a photo of one dude.

Can you imagine the backlash if guys were talking about going to a strip club and they showed a photo of one of the girls?

They would all be immediately fired.

I am so glad I am here and not exposed to that nonsense any longer.

Compared to Thai girls, I think US women are much bigger manipulators.  And, they mostly use sex as a game or tool.  Terrible..

oh, how we are so quick to judge when those here have no clue as to the real actions, or non actions

that took place.

"That is no justification for inappropriate sexual behaviour."     that is true.   but if you watch tv or movies you might see that there is quite a DOUBLE STANDARD  regarding what one sex can do or say regarding the other.

Somehow, I'm pretty sure that whatever investigation Fox conducted found more than that Henry and the woman had just chatted over coffee.... But it is a typically male sexist/misogynistic comment in this kind of case to automatically blame and doubt the accuser.

A bit of interesting background on his wiki page:

Quote

On May 4, 2016, according to a Fox News spokeswoman, Henry took a temporary leave of absence following an alleged extramarital affair with a Las Vegas hostess and stripper.[31] The woman gave an interview with InTouch describing the alleged 10-month affair in detail.[32] Henry subsequently lost his White House correspondent position and returned to Fox News in late August 2016 as chief national correspondent.[33]

Sounds like he ought to have been fitting in with Roger Ailes culture there quite well...

Quote

Roger Eugene Ailes (May 15, 1940 – May 18, 2017) was an American television executive and media consultant. He was the chairman and CEO of Fox News, Fox Television Stations and 20th Television, from which he resigned in July of 2016 after allegations of sexual assault were made by 23 women.

Along with exhibiting another trademark Fox News trait:

Quote

In February 2019, amid a North American cold wave, Henry cast doubt on the scientific consensus on climate change, claiming that "the left" was making up new terms, such as "extreme weather" and "climate change", to account for the cold spell.[15][16]

Its quite obvious its 1 rule for 1 and one rule for another. Like an earlier poster said, imagine a few males passing a picture around and cooing over a female stripper?
Only last night I was taking a steady walk home along the soi and was approached by a stunner who had no hesitation in grabbing my b@lls and demanding I scr3w her. I made a complaint but I am 100% sure it will go no further, she wont be fired.
I havent left my condo since and I am sweating profusely. Well worth 500 baht ????

look at all the female school teachers who have been busted for raping/sexually abusing 16 year old boy students, must be dozens in the last 5 years... so yes, some are being held accountable.

I always wonder in stories like this - What exactly happened. Like, exactly.

The thing is, guys welcome, within bounds, a certain amount of sexual attention (what the #metoos would call "harassment.")

The moral for males who have never heard of #metoo is:

Never dip your pen in company ink.

How on earth does one define, in this or any other age, "inappropriate sexual behaviour"????  It means just what one wants it to mean.

Such judgementalism.  I am reminded of a schoolmaster portrayed by Charles Dickens.

Faced with this kind of stiff-necked, frowning dismissive moralism, I can't help recalling some of the great adulterers of history, and wonder how Lords Nelson and Byron would fare in this dark satanic world where anyone can be labelled "inappropriate" "in a heartbeat."

I also recall one of the greatest geniuses ever to touch a football, whose private life was notoriously "inappropriate."  George Best, one of the best.
