I like BIG ones.

Depends where you live.  Tap water in Thailand  supposedly meets WHO as potable.  When I'm down in Cha Am there is a distinct  light brown tinge to the tap water.  Here in Nonthaburi it looks clearer. However I personally don't believe these jugs are a match for the multi layered filter systems.  I use ones from Home Pro, cost about 8000 baht and last a few years. Cheaper than a trip to hospital.

I agree, but if they are too big, they are hard to handle and get in the way.

I suspect it depends on the brand, and how the filters used are manufactured...

In the US, popular brands for those kinds of filters are PUR and Brita... Supposedly PUR is somewhat better. Though I'm not sure either are directly available in Thailand these days... though Brita was in the past at times.

In general, I think ANY filtering is going to improve what comes out of the typical Thai tap faucet, in BKK or elsewhere.
