Nong Khai: Red faced chief cop tells media how drug suspect escaped on girlfriend's motorcycle

The chief of a police station in north eastern Thailand has had to admit to the media how a suspect in a serious drugs case ran off through the police station onto a getaway motorcycle of his girlfriend and then disappeared.

 

Pol Col Techarat Prathumchart, chief of the Muang Nong Khai station, said that Theeraphat Rangkai, 37, was arrested by the military allegedly with 2,029 pills in his possession. 

 

On Saturday the suspect was transferred to the cells at the police station.

 

His girlfriend Busakorn, 19, came to see him during the scheduled visiting hours of 9-10 am Monday.

After this the man in charge of the cells had to take the suspect to an interview room for questioning. 

 

He decided it was not far to the interview room so cuffs were not necessary.

 

Theeraphat made a run for it and got on Busakorn's Honda Wave outside the police station.

 

Pol Col Techarat surmised that the two had probably hatched the plan during visiting hours. 

 

He has sought the help of neighboring jurisdictions to try and track down the suspect.

 

Sanook published a picture apparently from CCTV of the suspect fleeing the station and his girlfriend waiting for the getaway.

 

It had the caption in Thai: Let's go, honey.

So the suspects decided during visiting hours that Theeraphat should not be handcuffed when going to the interview room?

Hmmm, did the girlfriend deliver the envelope a little late, and they took it, leaving the door open and then putting on a show ?

So he said to wait outside, and if he isn't cuffed he'll make a run for it.

Even if he was cuffed he could still run outside. Just take the cuffs off later.

When I read the headline, I thought it was the police chief's girlfriend. I thought the real news was how he was going to explain that to his wife!

I don't get it, I read the article but it doesn't say anything about throwing paint in the guy's face.

 

 

I'm sure from this scare he will now come clean, leave this life of crime, walk the straight and narrow from here on in.

He can run but can not hide... and guess where they catch most of them? at their parents and relative houses, like Duh..

So he can get from the cells out through the station without having to get through any locked doors.

Why was she in the area of the cells and not in a visiting room separated from him?

Red faced of shame me thinks. Sounds like an inside job to me.
