The Supreme Court of Thailand is expected to get its first female president, when the Judicial Commission meets on July 24th to approve the nomination of Mrs. Methinee Chalothorn, currently Vice President of the Supreme Court, as the country’s new Chief Justice.

If approved, Mrs. Methinee will succeed Mr. Salaiket Watnaphan, who is due to retire at the end of September.

The Judicial Commission is also expected to endorse the nomination of Ms. Piyakul Boonperm, currently head of the Bankruptcy Litigation Department of the Supreme Court, as the President of the Appeals Court, and Ms. Wasana Hongcharoen, now head of the Juvenile Litigation Department of the Supreme Court, and Mr. Possawat Kanoknark, the serving head of the Commercial and Economic Litigation Department, as Vice Presidents of the Supreme Court.

Oh how progressive a female finally got a job.

Actually, if you bothered to check, you'd see Thailand is already high on the list of countries with females in high positions in both public and private sectors.
