Dr Yong Poovorawan, an expert virologist at Chulalongkorn University

In a Facebook post on Monday (July 20), Dr Yong Poovorawan, an expert virologist at Chulalongkorn University, advised people to consume information about Covid-19 wisely, as there are more than 100,000 research papers and publications on the disease.

He said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has made a pact with many online publishers and databases such as PubMed to allow people to access Covid-19 information for free.

“In the past six months, there are more than 32,000 papers about this disease,” he said. “WHO

"Within six months, there are more than 32,000 journals about this disease," he said. "Also, WHO has asked online publishers such as medRxiv, bioRxiv and Research Square to grant free access to scholarly articles and preprints on the virus.”

He said in response to this, more than 100,000 papers related to the virus have been published online, but most of them need to be checked first.

“Hence, people should consume information published on these websites wisely,” he said.

Speaking of which, I noticed something recently.

I can no longer access some websites that I've been using on a daily basis - they just don't work any more unless I use a VPN.

Stats from around the world - DNS says site doesn't exist : http://www.coronawiki.org

The above mentioned medRxiv website - COVID section - same thing here : https://connect.medrxiv.org/relate/content/181

Both sites appear to be censored and are not available, this started happening within the last couple of days.

Can anyone else access them? They work just fine on the VPN but not when I access through regular 3BB.

It's no coincidence, I'd like to know why they're censoring sites which deal with scientific research and live COVID infection numbers.

Both of your links work for me, with or without VPN to UK (NORDVPN)

I'm on ToT fibre and am in the Pattaya area.

I just accessed both of your links via 3bb and no VPN. Maybe they were a bit overloaded or down for a while.

The good news is there are loads of coronavirus publications...the bad news is there are loads of coronavirus publications.

How do you sort out useful vital information and discard the rubbish?  Does WHO know?

Not for me - it's still happening, I've tested this on 3 separate computers and a couple of different internet connections over the last two days.

It always works without fail on the VPN or DTAC hotspot via mobile and it always fails directly over 3BB.

There is a way to make it work though, I can hard code the sites IP address in the \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file to override the DNS result which tells me it's an issue with the 3BB DNS lookup.

Just a 'random' glitch I guess....

I prefer reading stories from members of Thai Visa with no medical training than medical papers written by doctors from all around the world.  It's all a plandemic, LOL!  (sarcasm!)

WTH? How can this be right?

That this guy (a "Doctor" and an "expert Virologist") can discuss the COVID-19 virus and NOT refer to the incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise on the subject here within the pages of Thaivisa.com is an OUTRAGE! He CLEARLY doesn't know what the hell he is talking about, typical bloody "Expert".

Until he corrects this and refers us to the wisdom of the many retired expat virologists (UoMeme, class of 2020), I just can't take him seriously.

I got 3BB and google's DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), works fine.

I got however no problem at all connecting to both sites linked above from a normal Thai TOT Internet connection...

Same

by reading the published medical literature, which has been peer-reviewed before being published, judiciously,

I think he means dont pay attention to scientific results that dont match what you are being fed on the news or by the government, or him....
