Allowing your children to play near a person who is mowing the grass can cause more pain and damage than you could imagine.

An eye clinic in Khon Kaen province posted photos on its webpage yesterday (July 20) of a long nail that had penetrated a child’s eye.

Eye Care by Thuss explained that the victim was a child, aged 3, who had strayed close to a man who was mowing. The mower had run over the nail and sent it flying like a bullet into the left eye of the young child.

Photos and details of the case were posted around 7am, while the doctor finished removing the nail from the eye at 11am.

However, the child’s eyesight will be checked once the eye has healed, since the accident caused heavy bleeding.

Friends wife had a similar experience when hit by a stone ( the mower was one of the steel bladed ones ) and the stone travelled a good 20 metres before it hit her.

Hope the kid has no lasting problems.

Yeah...even my string trimmer kicks up some tiny projectiles into my face...I learned my lesson...always wear eye protection now

I had to replace a window in my car after it was hit by a missile from a mower nearby, well - about 8 to 10 meters away. ????

What type of mower was it ? Brush cutter, rotary or hover ?

am always wary of those  guys cutting the grass in the central part of dual carriageways as they dont care if stuff  flys onto your  car smashing the glass etc

Should add that the stone hit her eyeball and did a fair bit of damage. It was quite a few weeks before her blurred vision cleared and she could drive again.

Also those ones with a plastic wire can make a small stone a projectile.

Is that really important...

I just hope the child recovers with some sight in that eye.

Years ago I saw a photo of one of the steel blades stuck in a house wall about 3 metres off the ground.

This is a good reason to allow 4 legged goats to trim the grass, rather than the 2 legged that do it now

Yes, that's so important to know.

You had your car's "glass, etc." shattered as a result of mowing?
