General Nattapon Srisawat, special adviser to the Royal Thai Army, said the 151 Thai soldiers who had gone to Hawaii to participate in the Lightning Forge 2020 training programme will be returning home on Wednesday. Their Thai Airways flight, TG8087, will land at Suvarnabhumi airport at 5.40pm.

He said the troops had been quarantined for 14 days and underwent Covid-19 tests twice before being allowed to fly. None of them have tested positive. Upon arrival, they will be moved to state quarantine facilities in Chonburi, where they will stay for another 14 days under the care of military doctors, before they are given a health certificate and allowed to go home.

Where was Lightning Forge held?

Schofield Barracks, Schofield Barracks East Range, Dillingham Army Airfield, the Kahuku Training Area, and Basilan Drop Zone on Oahu, Hawai'i.

I think they should get credit for 1 day because of the length of the flight. Thirteen days isolation is enough in this case. Besides not a 'HOt' region, the whole of Hawaii hasn't had 1500 covid-19 cases.

The interesting thing about this is that Thais catch covid abroad, but not in-country. Something to do with the climate, I suppose; or maybe all that spicy food. I would be sceptical, except of people I know, exactly zero have died of, or even contracted, covid 19. Something weird happening here, I don't even attempt to explain it.
