Six buffalos were saved from the knife after they were spotted walking down Bangkok’s Soi Onnut on Wednesday (July 22) and their photos went viral on the net after they were published on the JS100 website.

The buffalos had escaped an abattoir in Srinakarin Soi 32, and though they were captured again, Thai netizens launched a petition to save the animals.

Suan Pan Isarapab farm in Ratchaburi province raised Bt300,000 to purchase them from the slaughterhouse and they were released on Thursday.

One of the donors who helped save their lives was a nun who donated Bt10,000 from her meagre savings.

Buffaloes in the city... it's obvious they were going to sign up for the new vacant positions !

We bought two from a pick up driver in Phrae about eleven years a go. Now they live in Buff heaven with 10 rai of grass, a klong to swim in, pangola grass to munch on and shady lumyai trees to while away the hours under! All because my wife wanted to reward some of the animals that have worked over the centuries to bring us food and transport! If you have a vacant big block of ground you could do a lot worse that reward a pair of animals with a little bit of heaven. They "tame" pretty quickly, are great "watch buffalo's" and love bananas by the bunch! If you're bored invite some Filipino farm girls (from the local teachers) to come and have a ride, even the buffs smile at that!

PS: By the way, you'll never have to mow the lawn again!

Don't forget the creamy raw milk you can get from Buffaloes. Just remember to boil the milk to sterilise it

I thought the headline was "sick buffalo".....it will be a while before that line is used in a bar again !!!

Spat out my coffee ................ you sure?

Not always safe. I almost got rushed by a bull buffalo once when I came to close to his harem. He stepped forward and glared right at us, we beat a hasty retreat and he stayed.

Raw is far more healthy. Just use ordinary sanitary procedure as on other dairy farms, washing the teats in an iodine solution. The cream makes wonderful fresh mozzarella. If your buff is healthy, so will be the milk!
