Thailand reports 8 new COVID-19 cases, all in state quarantine

Thailand on Thursday reported eight new cases of COVID-19 amongst returnees in state quarantine.

 

Those infected included 4 cases from Egypt, 2 from Sudan and 2 from the United States. 

 

Thailand has so far reported a total of 3,269 COVID-19 cases with 58 deaths.

Eight new Covid-19 cases in state quarantine

There were eight new cases of Covid-19 over a 24-hour period, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced on Thursday (July 23).

 

It was the 59th day without any domestic cases.

 

Of the eight asymptomatic cases in state quarantine, four patients had returned on two flights from Egypt, two had returned from Sudan and two from the United States, Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul, CCSA assistant spokeswoman, said. There have been 18 positive cases from the Egypt flights and 15 from the Sudan flight.

 

As of July 23, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 3,269 (332 in state quarantine) -- 106 are under treatment, 3,105 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.

 

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases has passed 15.3 million, up by 279,000 on Wednesday -- the highest on a single day -- 9.3 million have recovered while deaths stood at 630,000. Thailand is 103rd among countries with the most number of cases. The US has the most number (4.1 million), followed by Brazil (2.2 million) and India (1.2 million ).

 

Dr Panprapa also reported that 60,470 returnees had been through state quarantine of whom 332 people tested positive, a 0.55 per cent infection rate.

 

Of the soldiers returning from Hawaii, 10 out of 151 soldiers showed symptoms and were transferred to hospital quarantine, while one soldier who had a congenital disease was sent to a hospital for treatment. Other soldiers were transferred to Chonburi for state quarantine.

I'm thinking based on reports to enter you need a minimum of two test, one before to submit permission from the Thai Consulate and it must be negative to be able to obtain the Certification to Enter then prior to your departure flight another test when arrival can not be older than 72 hours. 

No Virus expert when they arrive tested for a 3rd time now they might be infected?  What am I missing?

Correct:

I had a Covid-19 Test less than 72 hrs before flight departure (and presented the Covid-19 negative certificate and fit to fly certificate at the Airline check-in)

By the time I’d arrived at the ASQ hotel in Bangkok the Covid-19 test was older than 72hrs - I then had to take another Covid-19 test upon arrival at the hotel. I received a Covid-19 Negative result the following day.

 

I still have to take the Day 5 and Day 12 Covid-19 tests as per ASQ requirements - no deviation from script. 

 

I ‘think’ the reason for this is that it can take up to 12 days to develop Covid-19 and for it to be identified in a Covid-19 test (I’m guessing - but this is the only logic I can see in this).
