Pak Kret police were called after a Porsche slammed into a tree on the expressway exit ramp near Muang Thong housing estate north west of Bangkok yesterday.

The Carrera 4S, worth around 11 million baht, was driven by an 18 year old man.

Pictures at the scene showed severe damage to the right front side.

Inside the car were four people, men and women. Poh Teck Tung foundation took them to the World Medical Center. They were not seriously hurt.

The driver - who was given the assumed name Saen by Daily News - said that they had come from Rama 2 and were going Go-Karting at Muang Thong.

He said he was unfamiliar with the road and went through a barrier at the bend before hitting a large tree.

Police are investigating.

No brake failure this time

usual way of thinking, blame the road, the barrier and the tree or whatever (Unforeseeable external cause)

and not the excessive speed or the alcohol\drug consumption (driver reponsability)

He probably does nothing more than being the son of very rich parents

for one of the list (And few hundred more people) 11 M bahts is nothing

it's like a 10 baths coin for you and me, not a big deal if you lose one

'Teen in a Porsche' was all one needed to read!

And 'driven by an 18 year old man.' just doesn't make sense, because he is not, and never will be, a man if this is how his parents (or others) have raised him.

Any report on the condition of the tree?

He must have been moving I have owned a couple of Porsche so I know what they are capable of, I guess another problem in Thailand is with insurance companies who in their right mind would insure an 18 years old, I was in my 40's and could only get owner driver insurance for mine get caught drink driving insurance null and void

I had a red Porsche 911 Cabriolet for a weekend when I was 20.

Yes, it was fun to drive and it was fun to see the reaction of the people. I enjoyed it for a weekend.

But it was also one of those thing: been there, done that - it was good but not life changing. After that I never even dreamed about having such a car. But to be fair I would have had to work for it which is obviously very different from receiving a little car as a birthday present or something like that.

I would gladly give up my left nut for that scenario, knowing full well the other two would still be OK.

It seems you assume he had an insurance...

Any opinions on the future of that blue Porsche?

I hope the tree is OK.

Another Vorayuth in the making.

We just have to hope we're not on the same road as him next time it happens.

This Hi-So go-kart driver was aiming for a tree instead of a police-officer.
Essentially the same - different outcome though.

He wasn't 'moving' at all. The damage isn't bad as he didn't head-on the tree. Look at the picture and you can see the exit ramp and the end of the Armco barrier behind the wreck. He came around and down the exit ramp too fast, jammed the brakes, slid off the road at maybe around 40 kph, rapidly decelerating all the time and side-swiped the tree. No drama. There are dozens of these tight, spiraling ramps all over Bangkok so the kid (not man) claiming being 'unfamiliar' is a joke.

When you are an 18 year-old Thai in a red-plate, grey import Porsche in Thailand, do you really think they bother with insurance? He's probably already ordered the replacement.

Nothing. His stupid, irresponsible parents will have paid out for it.  Just another Hi So waster.

Spot on with my thoughts.  18 yo boy and the tree is still looking good after hitting the Porsche.  Well done that tree possibly saved a life or 2 .

Some of you don't know what a burden it is when your parents are rich,  I can understand this kids plight.  For my 18th my parents bought me a Mini Cooper S.  I honestly thought I had dropped enough hints that I wanted an XY Falcon GTHO...... All he wanted was a Nissan Skyline GTR...but no, mummy and daddy go right behind his back and buy this Porsche that has trouble staying on the road when you go around a corner.  I can visualise the traumatic encounter when the parents arrive at the hospital.  With tears in his eyes he professes his love for them and then tells them he doesn't feel loved by them in return.  He cries "All I wanted was a plain old Nissan Skyline GTR but you don't want me to be happy" ...more tears.  What's a bet there will be a Skyline GTR in the driveway tomorrow???

And here I thought that Red BullSheet was still in the UK?

Wonderful news. Made my day.
