Dentists sniff at cops’ cocaine story in ‘Boss’ case

No cocaine has been used in Thai dentistry for 100 years, a public health chief said today, scotching the reason police gave for not charging Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya with a drug offence in his 2012 hit-and-run case.

Dr Piyada Prasertsom, director of the Bureau of Dental Public Health, was responding to reports that police knew cocaine had been found in Vorayuth’s blood following the incident but had accepted the excuse that it was administered during a dental procedure.

He said Thai dentists had not used cocaine for the past century following the development of more effective anaesthetics.

Vorayuth, heir to one of Thailand’s richest families, was accused of being behind the wheel of a speeding Ferrari that ran into and killed motorcycle policeman Pol Sgt-general Wichian Klanprasert, 47, before driving away. The final charge was dropped last month, triggering public outrage over perceived legal impunity enjoyed by the rich and well-connected.

Shortly after the September 3 crash, Vorayuth underwent tests at Ramathibodi Hospital and the Forensic Police Hospital. The tests reportedly came back positive for substances caused by the decomposition of cocaine and substances arising from the use of cocaine together with alcohol.

A dentist later claimed to have administered the drug to Vorayuth during treatment five days before the hit-and-run incident.

Meanwhile, Pol Lt-General Sattawat Hiranburana, who is leading a police probe into the case, reported that investigators claimed doctors at both hospitals said Vorayuth’s test results may have been contaminated by antibiotics, causing false positives. They thus decided not to charge Vorayuth with a drugs offence.

Grasping at straws again. One lie begets more lies. These guys just need to shut there pie holes. Nothing they say is truthful.

Resume breast-feeding for some years until he looses his baby face, then send him to the Army to become something closer to a man.

Probably another controversy - avoiding the draft - best avoided.

They'll have to come up with some pretzel logic on how this was accomplished.

See also Paradorn and Abhisit, and all the others that dodged the draft.

Next they will be saying that it wasn't cocaine but traces of opium in his blood. This was due to all the bread dusted with poppy seeds he ate the day before.

If that doesn't work I am sure they'll think of something else.

These folks are like lawyers in so far as "how can you tell when a lawyer is lying?" When  his lips move. The same seemingly can be applied to these folks trying to run interference for the accused and his wealthy family.

why wish this pathetic excuse for a human being on the Army? Even the Thai Army has standards, albeit very low ones.

So the truth is the dentists are saying that the police lied !!! Shocking even thinking of such a thing.

A policeman not being 100% honest..... MY goodness that is unbelievable.????

Is there such an offence as 'attempting to pervert the course of justice' in Thailand?

If there is, in this case alone it seems that half the senior cops in Thailand are due a gaol sentence.

Why did they take that drug test in the first place? See what mess that created.

That's right. The Thai army don't use bayonets so no need for them to practice on anything.

A dentist

should  now  be  prosecuted for  lying

I think it's all a just a smoke screen to detract away from other matters i.e. Student Protests or lack of them now they are banned under SOE

The outcome will probably be the same as the Start except for one man being killed and many people getting paid extra for sitting on panels.

P.s. Sniff Sniff Snort Snort very drawl

More like Hans Christian Anderson's king and the invisible clothes.

'nuf sed.

So if you need cocaine see a dentist...no law broken...

sounds like the police and his dentist received a very good paycheck and are workinjg hard to keep it plus get a bonus. Giving a patient an illegal drug is not something anyone would own up to if they were not compensated to do so

It would work the same I think. If they catch you, you pay. If you can't pay you get charged. At least that seems to be the norm. There's always a way out of anything with enough money.

Pee testing bar girls and customers at entertainment venues seems to have died down a bit, but I remember it was very popular in Bangkok up until only a few years ago, as was pulling foreigners out of taxis and attempted extortion.

All Thong Lor Police again.

Stuff like this is why I truly revel in their abject misery, and never shed a tear when one of them gets their comeuppance.

In most countries kill a policeman and you're f@*ked; no honour among thieves, I suppose.

Sad this country doesn’t have professional criminologists. Instead you have clowns that can’t even create a valid cover up. Embarrassing to ones intelligent and common sense.

Cops in Thailand do not make decisions on matters like this. All roads lead to the P.M. and likely the guy he takes orders from.

This SOAP is indeed going to get me HOOKED.

THE MORE LIES THEY ADMINISTER THE BETTER IT GETS. so excited now ....????

I hope justice prevails. But something tells me once the noise settles and the media find another barrow to push and the right palms greased it will go away and nothing will happen.

I'd be pretty sure the PM has half heartedly rattled the cage for exactly the same tactic.

It should also be mentioned that this tactic is not unique to Thailand.

Was the pun intended in this headline?

Everything about this case shouts failure
