Thai media INN reporting on the activities of Region 2 immigration once again hailed the IB's 2 billion baht biometrics system for the arrest of a human trafficker.

Immigration had been informed by Chiang Mai police to be on the lookout for a man wanted in the north on a warrant.

He was entered in the APPS system then was apprehended using the biometrics system when he arrived at Suvarnabhumi from Japan on JL 031 on July 14th,

He was held in state quarantine for two weeks then handed over to the Chiang Mai police. No further details about his name or alleged offence were reported.

In a separate case a man was stopped at Don Muang airport after information was received from an informant that a quantity of Ya Ba (Methamphetamine mixed with caffeine in table form) was due to be transported to Udon Thani.

A man matching the description given by the informant was questioned and had his bag searched and body X-rayed.

Thirty seven Ya Ba pills were found in a cigarette packet in some trousers in a piece of luggage.

He was handed over to the Don Muang police.

Do they need biometrics to nab the African drug dealers who sit outside Margharita Sunrise on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 13 every night openly pushing drugs. Or the ones that sit outside Startbucks at the end of Pat Pong just opposite the police control box.

They're sending mules around the country by plane to move 37 tablets?

Suppose big joke will be amused at the 2 billion price tag for a 10 million system so much so his inactive post nearly pierced his liver ????

What a big time bust....stopped 37 tablets being transported from BKK to Udon...tipped off by an informer. No mention of the warrant the Chiang Mai police wanted the other guy on and again was a tip off to immigration. Well worth a 2 billion baht expenditure.

Apparently, they do. Probably have to cover the petrol charges before they would come that far. ????

The article reads tables, not tablets. Big mules, many of them, especially if they are dining tables....could be times tables, though....
