By the time they reach 25 they already look so old. What do they offer the society in term of profession? Do they contribute any skills in exchange for a day's hard work salary?

Oh, where to begin with this. I'm actually glad this sort of post came up, as it provides the opportunity for such things to be properly addressed.

Before getting married, I dated ladyboys. Yes, their position in life is difficult, and thus this creates complications and difficulties. Successful long term relationships with them is indeed rare. But the attitudes they have to face, such as some of those seen here, is certainly a contributing factor.

Hitting the wall at 25 is absolute rubbish. While not exactly still "passable" at that age, many still remain quite beautiful, in their own way. The ones I dated were near or past 30. One I didn't date, but who became a helpful friend upon my first visits to BKK, is a well known hostess at a Sukhumvit bar. My wife once met her and they soon hit it off, talking for the next 2-3 hours like old friends. My wife also likes them on YouTube, one hosts a popular Issan cooking and fishing channel, the other does make up how-tos.

If you're ever in Eastern BKK, there's several in Mega Bangna. One's in the Power Buy small electrics department, another's at a soap kiosk. And there's many in the 7-11s and Watsons around the area. One I met was a Nivea company rep, in the blue and white dresses, a coveted position. I'd say that given their position, they go out of their way to be friendlier and more polite, than most "real" ladies would. Try talking to one of these more professional ladyboys, to help shake your perception of them all being thieves and scammers.

As a teacher, I've had ladyboy students as low as Pratom 4 (4th grade). They still have to wear boys' uniforms, have boys' haircuts, and no make up, but the female mannerisms are undeniably present, natural, and not stereotypically flamboyant. I know for a fact their parents aren't terribly present in their lives, given questions I've asked them, and their obviously lacking academic performance, so I know they aren't being "pushed" or "coached" as many like to assume. And by 4th grade, just how much pushing and coaching could've been done? Thus I believe there's a strong case to be made for it being a genetic predisposition.

On that note I'd like to conclude, it's tough being a man in a man's world. The expectations are very high. You've gotta be big, rough, tough. So what if you turn out to be on the smaller, slenderer side? What if you've got a softer, more feminine character and disposition? Do you fight that uphill battle, trying to be something that you aren't, and don't feel comfortable being? Or do you take the route that just makes more sense? That is what they do.

While more comfortable for them, being who they want to be, it's certainly a rough road with what they have to face in life, for which I strongly commend them.

1st of all: blame China, they caused the situation.

2nd: get your lazy family members to work. Why does the country need foreign labour, if locals are sitting home ?

its just thailand being thailand and ladyboys are a part of that show and in a way plays a major role of acceptability globally of the trans community its a shame thailand does not recognise itself for what it is.
all down to keeping the public uneducated by a bullying gov

but the cold hard reality thats global no matter how much of a democracy you think you came from in the west.

OK where are the real democracies then?

And I am sure the West apologises for not being perfect.

I think we should all stand behind them . And but them on your staff if you have any kind of business.. It would certainly take a load off  the minds of the people here in thailand. Keep it up, with a stroke of luck we can all lick this problem .

Their colleagues in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and other tourist places in Thailand were in dire straits too.

I'm sure the government will bend over backwards to help out.

True.
My Suzuki mechanic is a ladyboy. The owner of two pharmacies in Khokloi is a ladyboy. The rubber tree nursery near my stepdaughter’s run by a ladyboy. I can add more examples.

Maybe you're on to something.  We can all sue each other in an endless circle and see what happens.

Wheredaya think you are?  America?

I often see busloads of Chinese tourists going to ladyboy shows in the past.

In China, it's impossible to see ladyboys so they come to Thailand to see them. In western countries, they have drag queens so it's not really unusual.

It seems that ladyboys do rely on Chinese tourists then.

Plenty of rubber trees though -- anyone up for a bit of experimentation?

What a bummer.  Maybe they could get a temporary job to tide them over.

What temporary jobs...with 60-70% of businesses in tourist areas shutdown?

Next we'll hear about thieves in Latin America suing their countries' tourist departments for ruining their business, as there are no tourists for them to rob.  Maybe someone like Bezos will buy Ecuador.

When Walking St is rebranded, Thais that wear gold jewellery should help.

I hope that these ladyboys do get help so that they can quickly get off-of their feet and onto their backs again!

being a ladyboy is more acceptable than gay

it is the third gender recognised by bhuddism

this particular ladyboy is in the entertainment biz

and its classed as one of the star attractions to see in thailand by straightzville tourists
there is a group which travel internationally often seen at the edinburgh festival in the uk.

im sure all ladyboys who walk the streets and bars are hurting too.

but being a katoey is mainsteam in thailand as already stated many work in regular positions

thailand is fairly progressive but they are still not allowed to change id gender on passports and will end up in a male prison unless fully reassigned surgery has been performed

I saw a TV show where they get 'local' surgery and a new pair if silicons are not so expensive its a thai price same with all the other procures in the tv show one doc was particularly famous among the katoeys.

on the other side thailand reassignment surgery was one of the most progressive i guess its supply and demand the more you do the better you get.

ive been served in 7/11 boots starbuck air asia among others by ladyboys.

it is what it is its 2020

i often wonder if its over publicized, as if its a thing thats too acceptable over just being gay.

but se asia also has many places that have male performers taking female roles especially indonesia.

as said if your in tourism your screwed and maybe the gov should have been looking at who is worst hit in this covid fiasco

of course thai gov has always said tourism is not important its only a small percentage of gdp
yeah 20% small

from sex workers which also doesnt exist which relied heavily on tourism

elephant camps disbanded the most revered animal in thailand saw no funding either.

its just thailand being thailand and ladyboys are a part of that show and in a way plays a major role of acceptability globally of the trans community its a shame thailand does not recognise itself for what it is.
