Amazing Thailand! "Jelly-gate" - where even the jellyfish could be fakes!

 

 

The authorities in Sattahip, Chonburi, swung into action after a Facebook post suggested that jellyfish being sold at the morning market were not jellyfish at all. 

 

The poster claimed that when they put their purchase in boiling water it appeared to be plastic or some kind of rubber.

District chief Anucha Inthasorn was not letting the good name of the area go unchallenged so he sent his deputy and the health authorities into investigate along with some navy men.

 

They took samples from four shops that were taken away for testing.

Results will be available in SEVEN days. 

 

(77kaoded did not say why it was taking a whole week to determine if it was animal or plastic, notes Thaivisa).

 

All the shops denied that their jellyfish were anything but....er...jelly.

And If you get stang by one you should pee on it .. which is what my mate did after one stang his missus .. he ran over and wee'd on it saying that's for stanging my wife ..

In my opinion, imitation Crab Sticks are delicious. Okay, not as nutritional as Alaskan King Crab ones, but far far less expensive! I regularly eat them sliced, with mayonnaise, lettuce and sliced tomato in a whole wheat bread sandwich.
