Looking for a place for good running shoes

I typically buy my running shoes from a specialty shop in the USA during my annual visit.  With COVID I am not able to get back to the US this summer.  The shop I go to does a good job in fitting me with the correct shoe.  They video me running on a treadmill and analyze my stride.  They had me try several shoes and I purchased a Nike shoe that has better arch support and better heel support since I tend to run on the outside of my heels.  Before using this shoe I used to have knee pain but this shoe has eliminated the pain.  I tried explaining this to the people at my local Super Sports here in Chiang Rai and they just stood there with a blank expression.  I even had my wife explain to them in Thai and got the same reaction.

This Thursday I will be heading to Bangkok for an extended weekend to visit friends and past co-workers.  Can anyone recommend a place that may be able to help me get the right shoe.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Could you look for the same shoe you had, thus guaranteeing fit etc?

What you are asking is highly specialised and extremely unlikely from any sports shop in Bangkok.

There are some people who re-sell Hoka shoes, but again, they are just resellers and not sports scientists with facilities to analyse your stride.

Best bet - get what you know works i.e. a new pair of the trainers that have worn out.

If you have time head over to impact arena area in muang thong thani. The Nike, Brooks and Asics outlet stores are there.

I think brooks have treadmill and they can analyse your gait and pronation. A similar feature is available in ari in central world and emporium. If you have trouble with pronation, gait or some kind of pain then I suggest selecting a model of the asics or brooks shoes.

Nike outlet has a wide range of running shoes and sizes. Brooks running shoes store is located there Ghost and Adrenaline and other models available and you can see the shoes on brooks Thailand website. Asics have the kayano and nimbus models of their shoes and other models available.

I prefer to go to the impact outlet area as I can always find my size us 12 and the brooks ghost and adrenaline shoes which mostly I cannot find in the city centre.

Other than that, depending on your shoe size and how much time, other options are

Saucony shop, Supersports and ari in central world,

Sports mall in emporium has Hoka, Altra and Saucony and some limited Nike and Adidas.

The Mall Bankapi has Mizuno, Saucony, Brooks, Nike but the sizes are limited.

Unfortunate, last time I bought 2 pair in the US I was told that Nike discontinued that model.  There was a replacement but they didn’t tell me the model name or number.

You are correct.  Stick with what works.  I’ve gone through 4 pair of the same type.

https://bk.asia-city.com/city-living/news/new-sport-connept-store-opens-centralworld-offers-find-your-perfect-shoes-service  I don't know if it's any good.  I was looking for a link to the running supply store across from Lumpini Park and saw this.

Thanks!  I’ll check it out.  I liked the Nike ones I have but the model is discontinued.  I know that there is a replacement and that there are other brands that offer the same type of heel support.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have plenty of time to look around.  I’m on the other side of the size range.  I wear a size 8 US.

Try supersports and ari in central world and sports mall in emporium, I have seen treadmills and I think I saw a camera in some of those stores they use for analysing ones pronation and gait. I think in the city centre shops you will be able to communicate in english with the staff.

Do you not recall the model name of the nike running shoes you had? Sometimes at the nike outlet at impact arena one can find the conventional and older models of nike shoes. Your shoe size I think would be no problem.

Other locations for running shoes are:

central rama 9, they have  supersports, adidas, nike and new balance shops.

Mega Bang Na, supersports, asics, sportsworld, new balance, nike, adidas etc...
