Office of the National Security Council (NSC) has approved the extension of the state of emergency for another month, as a refining of the Communicable Diseases Act is still to be completed, but the NSC confirmed it would not enforce the emergency decree on political rallies.

NSC secretary-general General Somsak Rungsita said today (August 20) that the state of emergency will be effective until the end of September.

Regarding student political rallies, he said there was no problem if the protests nationwide were held in line with the law, confirming that the office will not enforce the decree on the rallies.

Concerning the new domestic Covid-19 case discovered at Ramathibodi Hospital, he said the Public Health Ministry will explain the case.

“We will hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss measures that had been eased, such as a full school reopening, public transportation and permission to enter sports stadiums,” Somsak said.

“We will also thoroughly investigate the new Covid-19 case,” he added.

Well this now aligns, well sort of with the end of Amnesty on the 26th of September.  I know they really want to open for High Season, but there is no way anyone in there right mind would try and book hotels and such without having a concrete plan in place which allows for an opening without quarantine.  I spoke to a friend who has been working from home for an advertising company.  She said that since they now have added weekly Zoom conferences via PC or Cell, she could maybe come and stay for 90 days, which would cover 2 weeks of quarantine.  She is into Muay Thai and MMA, and would use the other 10 weeks to train in Phuket before heading back to the US.  However, with the extra amount and uncertainty she said she will give it a pass until late 2021 or 2022.  She normally spends 2 months a year in Phuket and 2 months in Brazil.

We have seen this play out before...soon demonstrator's leaders will start disappearing...those that can will flee to Cambodia where they will be abducted in the middle of the night and never heard from again...

I am speaking of a movie, of course, and does not reflect the attitude of the current democratically elected government...

Why need to put same theater on every month! Make extension end of year and don't make headline like you are going to think this every month! TAT also can go long vacation coz don't need count how much tourist maybe come next month!

Anybody that gullible?

They will do exactly what they want as they always do with zero forethought then when it goes wrong, as it invariably does, they will simply label it a misunderstanding...

The general has other agencies to do the dirty work for him.
