Ukraine hits deep as oil hub burns and Crimea rail link is struck The Grushovaya oil trans-shipment base was hit in a Ukrainian drone attack© t.me/supernova_plus Ukraine has launched a sweeping overnight drone offensive across Russia and occupied Crimea, hitting key energy infrastructure and disrupting rail traffic in one of the most ambitious long-range strike campaigns of the war. The attacks targeted oil facilities, logistics networks and transport links hundreds of miles from the front line, underlining Kyiv’s growing ability to impose costs deep inside territory controlled by Moscow. Oil Infrastructure Engulfed in Flames One of the most significant strikes hit the Grushovaya oil trans-shipment base near Novorossiysk in Russia’s Krasnodar region. Images from the scene showed a huge column of smoke rising into the sky as emergency crews battled the blaze. Russian authorities confirmed a fire at the facility and deployed more than 130 firefighters to contain it. The site is one of southern Russia’s major hubs for handling oil and petroleum products, making it a strategically important target. Crimea Rail Network Thrown Into Chaos The campaign also struck transport infrastructure in occupied Crimea. A Ukrainian drone reportedly hit a passenger train travelling from Moscow to Simferopol, killing a railway worker and injuring the driver. Rail services across Crimea were temporarily halted as authorities evacuated passengers and scrambled replacement transport. The disruption highlights Ukraine’s increasing focus on military and logistical routes connecting occupied territories to mainland Russia. Drone Swarm Stretches Russian Defences Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed it intercepted 310 Ukrainian drones overnight across multiple regions, including Moscow, Crimea, the Black Sea and southern Russia. The scale of the attack illustrates the mounting pressure on Russia’s air-defence network. Even where interceptions occur, the need to defend vast areas of territory is forcing Moscow to spread resources across an increasingly wide front. Fuel Lifelines Under Sustained Attack Ukraine also reported strikes on oil and fuel facilities in the Volgograd region and occupied Crimea, including sites used to support Russian military operations. The campaign reflects Kyiv’s broader strategy of targeting fuel depots, energy infrastructure and logistics hubs to weaken Russia’s ability to sustain combat operations. Rather than focusing solely on the battlefield, Ukraine is increasingly aiming at the machinery that keeps the war running. As fires burn and transport links face disruption, the message from Kyiv is becoming clearer: nowhere within Russia’s logistical network can be considered completely secure.
