Normally air asia arrive at10.05AM in penang airport,

If directly go to consulate, we have enought time,

but how often AA delayed? and how many minute does AA delay averagely?

If AA delay within 50 minute, We still have time to reach the consulate as they close at noon.

There's no real accurate way to answer your question. Flights tend to be more on-time earlier in the day (which the morning BKK-PEN flight obviously is). Delays on AirAsia tend to be cumulative throughout the day, caused by the short turnaround times they schedule at airports. For example, if a flight arrives a few minutes late and the plane is scheduled to be airborne in fifteen minutes, this causes a delay from which the airline never recovers throughout the course of a day.

I took the morning Air Asia flight to Penang in November. It was more than two hours late.

I have never had an Air Asia flight leave on time. The shortest delay was an hour, the longest three.

You should really give yourself an extra day in Penang.

I know that, but I like to know the frequency, how often AA delay, and how many minute delay?

for me I used 3 times AA for KL penang ,etc,

and I got 40 minute delay, 30 minute delay and on time,

so how about your case?

I want to calculate the possiblity to reach the office in penang on time.

I've flown close to a hundred AirAsia flights since they started operations in Thailand three years ago. Perhaps a total of a dozen of those flights were late and then, never by more than an hour. Based on my own personal experience with AirAsia, I wouldn't worry about being late too much but there are plenty of people who insist that AirAsia is late every time they take an AK or an FD flight.

Sorry to tell you this, panda66. You will not be able to get an affirmative calculation to what you hope to do. The delay could be anything from 10 minutes to 5 hours. As suggested by someone, it is better you timed yourself with an overnight stay in Penang.

As far as that goes, AirAsia has an afternoon flight to Penang four days per week (dep. 13:55, arr. 16:35). No reason why one couldn't fly down on a Monday afternoon, take care of their visa business first thing on Tuesday morning, collect their passport on Wednesday afternoon and make the 17:05 flight to BKK.

So your case is 88 flights were on time and 12 times were late ,but the 12 flights were late within 60 minutes,

so at least 88 flights didnt have any problem, right?

That's my own experience, yes. But as I also said, there are any number of people who insist that AirAsia is late all of the time.

For what it's worth, the AirAsia website reports an overall on-time performance of 75% for 01/2007, 83% for 02/2007, and 85% for 03/2007. These numbers are in line with what I personally experience. Note that I am more likely to have an on-time flight as I do tend to fly earlier in the day.

Yes but , I can calculate the possibility, ie percentage ,mathmatics.

Is that % including all flights?, if so, moring first flights being late must be less than 10%?

I assume it is all flights since they offer no sort of breakdown.

All airlines even the best are prone to delays often not their own fault.

Always build in a safety solution in your air travel plans.

3-4 hours delays are not uncommon although most flights fly almost on time

Airlines and expecially low cost ones are planning their schedules to keep the aircrafts flying as much as possible and this causes build-up delays when one aircraft has some delays for some reasons. This is also why most early morning flights are on time. This is not true for long haul but for short haul it is true.
