I have a retirement Visa that expires October 8 and I have been paying rent on my place (Samui) since leaving on February 22 thus Airport closure.  I know there is a pandemic going on. more so in various parts of the world than others. I don't know if government people read any of this, but it is time for them to listen. I get calls from Thai friends each day asking for help and having been retired there for ten years, I know who is telling me a story and who is not. Open up to the retired people who have supported your economy for years. This is for the small guy who supports the vendors on the street, the motorbike guy who fixes my bike but NOT to the Policeman who is my landlord who keeps saying next month you can come. The hoops you have required for entry are a bit far fetched because you have all these people (immigration) standing  around  doing nothing, therefore having the ability to keep tabs on entry people. Quit eyeing the rich and pay attention those who have actually HELPED your economy. So, I don't need a lesson in smart ass sayings because I have seen it all here. Is it time to move on to another country who have RESPECT? Having had 800,000 in YOUR bank since July 1 is about to be used in another country. Get rid of the hoops and get foreigners back before its too late.

OP, have a look at big picture. In my country, Australia, some state borders are shut and if your not Au citizen you would have zero chance to enter.

What would you suggest Thailand do?

BTW that would/should also apply to countries such as Vietnam.

Maybe Phuket in October is your answear. But it cost a lot of money and you need watch when after quarantine you can go Samui! Requirements to entry Thailand are really hard.

Don’t get too excited about this until the details are announced and official.   If it actually happens, it will likely start with direct charter flights into Phuket only.  Probably only from countries with very low covid numbers....probably just China in my opinion.
