Retirement extension question

Featured Replies

Just a quick question for Ubon Joe et al.

My retirement extension expires 18 January. I have heard and I intend to ask at Chantaburi next 90 day report that I can apply for the extension up to 30 days beforehand. If allowed I thought I might do it. So if I had a stamp until 18 Jan 22, is there any problem with me then leaving the country (with re-entry permit) prior to the original but now extended date. Say on the 28th of December.

Just ensure the re-entry stamp is dated to cover your new extension stamp.

Before that make sure you can actually re-enter the country.  No timeline is yet in place for anything but Embassy authorized travelers going into quarantine.

ur re entry permit expires the same day ur extension expires.

you can apply up to 30 days before.

Sure I know about that, just enquiring about this little technicality, thanks

do you currently have a re-entry permit that expires along with your current extension on january 22?

are you asking whether the re-entry permit expiring jan 22 will still be valid after you apply for an extension on or about december 18?

you are planning to get an extension (but not a new re-entry permit) mid-december, then leave the country december 28 with a re-entry permit expiring jan 22?  when do you plan to return?

Sorry if there's any confusion. I don't have a re-entry permit at the moment. I'm planning to get an extension of permission to stay until 18 January 2022. I want to know if there is any complication due to leaving the country prior to that extension starting. I think Tanoshi has answered it in that I should ensure the date of the reentry permit covers the new extension.

ok, then.

before the covids, my extension (and single re-entry) would expire mid-october.  at CW i would extend and buy a new single re-entry (expiring same day as new extension) the first week of september and leave for china a week later, prior to the expiry of previous extension.  no problems returning 6-8 months later.
