Table 3 shows the types of health conditions and contributing causes mentioned in conjunction with deaths involving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death. But that's not the same thing as saying they didn't die directly because they got infected with the virus. For example a person might have well controlled asthma for 40 years and then develop Covid 19. They wouldn't have died prematurely if they hadn't been infected. But thats not in any way the same thing as saying that only 6 percent of reported covid 19 deaths died of covid 19. The CDC isn't saying that. And of that 6% who were not elderly, did not have significant underlying or pre-existing health issues what part of their metabolism failed causing death?
