I know the multi-entry is better in terms of less paperwork, but using an agent and getting charged substantially more for the ME, and a quick google search is telling me that single entry for the year I can just get re-entry permits every time I a plan to leave. So really the single entry is still the multi-entry but just need to do a little bit more paper work (obtaining re-entry permit) each time I plan to leave, which is only 1000 baht, if I leave. Am I seeing this right?

You can also apply for a multiple re-entry permit for a fee of 3800 baht that is valid for entry up to the day your one year extension of stay ends.
