Good Exterior/Interior Painters

Anyone know of any good exterior/interior painters?

I have house in the Korat area (Nong Takai Village). I'm looking for someone to re-do some painting that was already done.

I am willing to pay them extra to try and get this done asap.

Any help would be appreciated guys!  Not having too much success with some of the local painters....lol!

Unfortunately painters are pretty much at the bottom of the totem pole for Thai labor.  IE: not much incentive to be a "good" painter.  If you can't DIY, you could try boning up on proper preparation and supervise.  Get things clean and use premium paint without diluting (as the Thais seem to think is required) are the main factors you need to be concerned.

Just to ask... what is the issue with the initial painting that needs to be re-done?

I find that a lot just quote for the job now, forget about daily rates. We had the outside of our house painted, cost 10,000 baht, and I supplied the paint. Took two guys 5 days, so that's 2000 baht a day, or 1000 baht each per day. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

I edited this because the missus said it was 10,000 baht, not 15000, and her memory is better than mine.

I think your on the ball there. Just had a lot of work done on My (Well Wife place) One of our 5 double bedrooms sorted, new ceiling, on-suite retiled, plumbed, (2 new showers, Toilet) I payed for those, lights, electric. 2 new windows. Side roof reroofed, and repainted everything that didn't move. Even the main roof ++++. Took 6 workmen & the Boss, around 3 weeks to do everything.

Top class job but it did cost well over 140k BHT + the bit's I paid for. Gone are the days of everything being as cheap as chips in Thailand.  Mind you it would have been bundles more in the UK.

Still have more to do like a new Aircon another 15k+ And other bits to furnish the bedroom. Curtains, D/Bed, TV, +++ Another 20k gone.

The thing is am I happy with the outcome well Yes. Even though it's only going to be another spare bedroom. At least the house is sorted for another 10 years.

Hi

you have a nice house

and imo seing the photos the painting work seems already ok.

Maybe you want to change the colors?

My advice if you want to find good painters in your area is to find

men at work, on another house in your vicinity, where you can see

they are doing a good job. Then ask them if they want to work for you.

It could be a little bit difficult and costly, as the real good painters are rare in Thailand

but i recomand you to take your time. More urgent is your need, more costly it should be

and more is the risk to have a bad work done.

Avoid the ''local'' recomandation from a Thai ''friend'',neighbour or your gf thai family

most of the time they haven't the same interest as you nor the same notion of a ''good'' job done

(Most of them just want to provide work for family or friend, and probably have a % on the money too)

good luck

Thanks for the responses Guys!

I made the mistake of hiring my wife's family and their friends do the work. I was convinced by wife that they were so called experts and I was paying 300-500 baht a day. (another mistake, imo)

The believe the main problem was, I was in the USA and allowing my wife and her family manage a lot of it. After I arrived in Thailand and witnessed the work up close, I came to the conclusion that me and her family had different interpretations of good work consists of. They did not believe in doing any type of prep work, a paint was spilled in a variety of areas, including on the floors in certain areas.

I got into a lot of arguments with my wife regarding it and came to the conclusion that it was best to steer clear of family members. And even when a family members referred me someone that was good, they felt guilty charging a lot a lot.......which caused them constantly leaving to do other jobs. (Although they never admitted to this, it became obvious when I kept hearing they couldn't work because someone was sick or died in the family...every other week....lol!)

As another poster pointed out, I had to search around a bit and inspect work that others already done. The best people were usually busy and had numerous jobs lined up and wanted between 800-1000 a day, per worker. I was able to get a referral from another friend in the Village that had work done.

If your not going to work yourself and supervise the workers that are helping directly, paying a daily rate is foolish, just have someone quote the job complete.
