PM impressed with proposals by business honchos to boost economy

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said in a Facebook post on Friday (September 4) that he was pleased with the response from the business sector on lifting the country's economy.

 

 

On Thursday (September 3), the PM held discussions at Government House with businessmen and entrepreneurs involved in the property, retail, e-commerce and logistic sectors to brainstorm ways to drive the country's economy.

 

"All the businessmen and entrepreneurs' opinions were amazing. The government should meet with these honchos who have expertise in each business in society and I believed that my decision to hold a discussion with them was right," he said. "I am very impressed with their well-prepared proposals, as they were very interesting."

 

He added that another thing that impressed him was every honcho cares about the future of the country without looking only at their business sector.

 

"I am considering their proposals and I will use it to drive the country's economy," he added.

I noticed the use of the word "honcho" in a previous story (but I think without rooster's byline)

Is this a really an accurate translation of whatever word he used as honcho is normally used, in my experience, as slang, or, heaven forbid, is the OP being a tad facetious....... 

Yes, new buzzword of the week.  Will they 'eye' and 'mull' and if there is agreement will they 'ink' it?

So good to not see these proposals in the report, is it  like this normal Thai business proposal, half the  tourists = double the price?

Yeh OK but given that he hasn't got a bl@@dy clue himself he would be impressed with anything that looks even the slightest bit like a solution.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. What view do you wish to take with corvid -- the short view, like with Sweden, where the name of the game was protecting ongoing businesses? Or the longer view, like with Thailand -- where economic pain is severe up front -- but maybe a corvid free bubble will entice a gold mine of pent up tourism in the near future..? Already the 'snow bird' concept has much merit to attract long term stayers, many of whom had historically different wintering destinations. Who knows -- we'll just have to stay tuned to the evolving corvid events, then in  a few years time, we can determine who gets the blue ribbon. Meanwhile, conjecturing about Thailand being wrong in all of this is, well, conjecture. But, it's hard to get an honest appraisal from folks who label coup makers as idiots -- so much easier to label democratically elected leaders, like Trump, as sage voices of reason and destination.....

So what are these fabulous ideas that will save Thailand ?

He never mentions them,maybe because he did not understand

what they were going on about.

Headline in news next week, Thailand to be saved by a Honcho on a white horse.

I don’t suppose any of these business honchos mentioned anything about Thailand’s uncompetitive currency, did they?

I'm sorry, but if I remember correctly, none of those proposals offered

a lot of relief to the average Thai.

Just goes to show our PM Khun Prayut Chan O Cha is concerned and is listening to the business people of Thailand.  Excellent comments from Khun Prayut and I'm sure his government will look at all suggestions moving forward.
