Best way to save the economy is to stop the virus

The crowd that decries lockdowns because, they claim, the damage to the economy outweighs the lives saved are not supported by the data.  This graph shows that, in general, the economies that have suffered the least are in countries that were most successful at suppressing the virus. For example, the best are Taiwan and S. Korea, who achieved single digit deaths per millions score, neither one of which ever actually locked down their societies, because they quickly and diligently applied the best practices of testing, isolating positives, and tracing contacts instead of locking down.  Thailand is not included, but would be an exception from having suffered large economic losses despite having a very low deaths per million count of 0.84.
