The Digital Economy and Society Ministry has warned people against believing or sharing news and Internet posts about the government being able to pay salaries of civil servants for only three more months.

“The ministry’s Anti-Fake News Centre contacted the Fiscal Policy Office at the Ministry of Finance to verify this information and was told it was wrong,” the ministry said. “The Office said the government had earmarked sufficient budget for civil servants’ salaries until the end of each fiscal year. Moreover, currently the Budget Act of 2021 is being considered by Parliament and should be ready soon.”

The Office also assured that the country’s treasury reserves were still strong and able to support the operations and policies of all ministries and departments. “The income from tax collection and other sources in this fiscal year are still within the estimates, so there is no need to worry,” it added.

For more information on the fiscal budget, visit www.fpo.go.th or contact: 02 2739020. To report any fake news, please do so via website www.antifakenewscenter.com.

It would be very interesting if there is any truth in this, and government failed to pay civil servants salaries.

All civil servants not turning up for work, government/ country would grind to a halt.

Prayut and cronies would not last long, most of them would quietly vanish, taking with them their ill gotten gains.

“The income from tax collection and other sources in this fiscal year are still within the estimates...

Sure: If I estimate that my income is zero, than for sure, I am within my estimates.

Purely going on previous experience with a government spokesman's denial, I assume tomorrow the Ministry of Finance will announce they've run out of cash.

Bit hard to find a replacement Captain when the Thaipanic is broken in two and resting on the ocean floor.

The funds must have nosedived if people are not making any money and business's are closing daily then there is no tax to pay, even I know that

That's how they have the money to keep the civil servants happy.

So basically it's a boat half full, boat half empty situation???  With enough buckets and enough manpower the situation can be changed to positive.

Don't panic Prayuth , there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Oh dear ........... it's the oncoming train.
