Amnesty Extension Decided on Tuesday 22nd

Featured Replies

hi,

so it seems that amnesty will be extended on Tuesday 22nd, and the only reason why it has not been announced earlier is that they wanted people to organize their visa another way.

But no choice, with more than 100k people not having a visa after 26th, what else could they do ? deport everybody ? how ridiculous ?

So let's be patient for the final announcement ❤️

they are not deporting anyone specifically after 26th but once you are required to show valid permit to stay / exit latest whenever you may exit the country you will face the consequences if not having such valid permit stamped in your passport ????

good luck

They don't deport anyone, they will just be on overstay. Not the end of the world after all it's quite common overstaying ,if you have been to a land border at least once you know what I mean.

But it's very silly to think that they will do an announcement on the 22nd when all the info for all the visa classes involved in the visa amnesty have been dispatched 2 months ago..

someone has had a fancifull dream, hopefully it does not become a real nightmare with heavy night terror sweats because they waited until the witching hour.

Is 100k the actual number who have not obtained a visa/visa extension in preparation for the resumption of normal procedures after the 26th?

There are normally many more illegals than that in the country anyway.

Whatever the number Immigration will probably not immediately set out on a major round-up.

They will carry on as usual. With perhaps a greater expectation that the next non-SEA foreigner they chance upon will be lacking the required "papers", which may motivate individual officers/sections looking to up their "score".

Then the standard process.....fine, detention, a flight out (paid for by the detainee) and a ban from returning.

I believe that is the procedure........the old normal.
